Streets of the World 2019: World's largest outdoor photography exhibition to land in Canary Wharf this week

The world’s largest outdoor photography exhibition will make its UK debut in Canary Wharf this week.

Launching on Thursday (May 2), Streets of the World will capture everyday life in capital cities across the globe, exploring the cultural connections between the different areas.

Dutch photographer Jeroen Swolfs is the man behind the exhibition. His photography project took seven years to complete, resulting in 195 photos of different cities, including London, Havana, Paris and Baghdad.

Visitors will also be able to opt for an interactive experience of the show if they scan a QR code at Westferry Circus. They’ll receive a walk-through video of the photos, presented by Swolfs himself.

For the first two days, the exhibition will be accompanied by street food market Eats of the World, which will run in Canary Wharf’s Montgomery Square from 11am-3pm. Visitors will be able to try food from the countries featured in Swolfs' photographs, including Mexican burritos, Lebanese falafel and Venezuelan arepas.

The free show lands in London following a successful pop-up in Denmark and exhibitions in Amsterdam and Dubai.

Swolfs, photojournalist and creator of Streets of the World, said: “My ambition for this project was always to show the connections that bind us together as people.

“For me, streets of capital cities were a great way to do this and I am incredibly excited for the exhibition’s UK debut to be displayed at Canary Wharf where such a wide array of people from many different cultures will be able to experience my journey.”
