Royal Ballet to screen Swan Lake outdoors for free this summer

Royal Opera House

It’s the hottest day of the year, but you love the arts. The struggle is real. Who wants to go and watch things in a dark room with no windows when it’s sunny?

Luckily, the struggle has been recognised and resolved by the Royal Opera House’s special season of outdoor summer events.

The BP Big Screens programme will bring the biggest productions from the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet to big screens in some of London’s loveliest outdoor spaces.

This year, audiences will have the chance to watch the Royal Ballet’s new production of Swan Lake, followed by Royal Opera productions of Puccini’s La Boheme and Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

Venues for the screenings include Trafalgar Square, Canada Square in Canary Wharf, Lyric Square in Hammersmith and General Gordon Square in Woolwich. The events will take place in June and July.

The screenings are completely free, and sure to be popular - last year over 33,500 people attended one of the big screen performances.

Details on dates and venues for the performance can be found at roh.org.uk
