Top artists have opened an astronaut-themed tribute exhibition to the men who have walked on the moon.

Sculptor Anish Kapoor, celebrity light artist Chris Levine, and Turner Prize nominees The Chapman Brothers are among 12 artists behind ONE SMALL STEP in King’s Cross.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landings this month, each artist has transformed a single astronaut-style helmet into an artwork - one for each of the 12 men who have walked on the moon since 1969.

The works will be auctioned via online platform Paddle 8 with all proceeds going to MAG (Mines Advisory Group), the anti-landmine charity backed by Princess Diana in early 1997.

The Chapman Brothers painted a vision of the royal against a star-studded background on their metal-ringed helmet sculpture - named “Great Mines Think Alike” - in recognition.

Several others including Levine, who has made portraits of the Queen and stars including Kate Moss, created starlit images containing the galaxy, his hovering above the ground.

The exhibition will run until July 7 as part of The Other Art Fair at The Crossing, N1C 4AA
