Wiz Khalifa’s new single See You Again, which is a tribute to the late actor Paul Walker, has become the fastest selling single of 2015.

Overtaking Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do, the new track has climbed 21 places in the UK chart to reach the number one spot.

The single, recorded for the Fast & Furious 7 soundtrack, has had worldwide success, hitting number one on the US Billboard chart.

Also breaking streaming records, See You Again had nearly four million streams in just seven days.

The US rapper recorded the track, featuring Charlie Puth, for the seventh instalment of the successful action franchise, which is the actor’s final film.

Walker tragically died in a car accident before he could complete filming back in 2013, with his brothers Caleb and Cody stepping in to shoot the rest of his scenes.

Speaking about the recording the poignant track, Khalifa told MTV: “To have the responsibility to do the Paul Walker record was really dope.

“I basically thought about what the movie stands for as far as family and the brotherhood, and of course, using the metaphor of the last ride and the last race because of that last scene.”

Previous number one, Jess Glynne’s Hold My Hand, is now at number three, just behind Omi’s Cheerleader.
