It’s been just over two years since Kendrick Lamar released his third album – and he might be about to release another one.

The 29 year-old rapper dropped a major hint on Instagram that his new record could arrive any minute – a lot sooner than some fans may have expected.

Lamar’s Instagram account has been wiped clean, while his profile picture has been changed to a black circle.

One new image has since been uploaded – a black square with the roman numerals ‘IV’.

The number strongly hints at Lamar’s upcoming fourth album, and suggests that new music may be imminent.

Lamar drew huge critical acclaim for his last two LPs, 2013’s good kid, m.A.A.d city and 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly.

The latter was also released unexpectedly, arriving on download and streaming services one week earlier than the initial release date.

The Swimming Pools rapper also surprised his fans in 2016 by dropping Untitled Unmastered, a collection of eight unreleased studio recordings from the To Pimp a Butterfly sessions, without any prior warning.

With Lamar currently approaching a headline set at Coachella this summer, it seems ‘King Kendrick’ might have a lot of new material to perform at the Californian festival.
