Formerly the quiet one in the world’s quietest band, The xx, as a solo artist Jamie Smith is makes colourful, nostalgic dance music that has earned him multiple award nominations.

City and Colour

Feb 26-27, Troxy, E1 (020 7790 9000, troxy.co.uk)

The alias of Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green (a city and a colour, get it?) whose five albums are consistent platinum sellers in his homeland.

The Cult

Feb 27, O2 Academy Brixton, SW9 (0844 477 2000, o2academybrixton.co.uk)

Rockers Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy have never been out of action for long since their Eighties peak. This month they released their tenth album, Hidden City.

Enter Shikari

Feb 27, Alexandra Palace, N22 (0870 444 5556, alexandrapalace.com)

The noisy electronic rock band from St Albans don’t get much mainstream attention, but their recent fourth album was another top 10 hit and they’re still playing the big venues.

Rudimental

March 3, O2 Arena, SE10 (0844 824 4824, buy tickets)

They now have two number one albums under their belts but it’s as a live attraction that the heavily populated Hackney dance collective remain irresistable.
