One of the UK’s best family-friendly festivals returns for another edition this weekend.

Festival-goers of all ages will be making their way down to the Dorset coast for Camp Bestival, which promises a line-up of music, theatre, comedy, wellness and beyond.

If you’re heading down to the four-day event, or if you’re considering making a last-minute ticket purchase, there is plenty going on to prepare for.

This is everything you need to know about Camp Bestival.

The best family-friendly festivals in the UK

1/15

When is Camp Bestival?

The festival will run from Thursday July 25 until Sunday July 28.

Where is Camp Bestival?

It all goes down within the grounds of Lulworth Castle, a 17th century building sat on the Dorset coastline.

Who’s on the line-up? And what are the stage times?

For a family festival, Camp Bestival has a pretty varied line-up. The headliners are made up of the usual suspects, with disco legends Nile Rodgers and Chic, Scottish pop sensation Lewis Capaldi and chart-topping singer Jess Glynne. Annie Mac, The Human League, Bombay Bicycle Club and Sister Sledge will also perform.

From there, though, things get decidedly wonkier. Grindcore pioneers Napalm Death sit alongside Dutch Eurodance favourites Vengaboys, 90s pop heartthrobs East 17 and rap comedy act Big Shaq. Oh, and there will be a performance from Elvana — the band which combines the music of Elvis and Nirvana, of course.

There are plenty of other great acts further down the line-up — including DJ sets from the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Sara Cox and David Rodigan. Check it out in full here.

Stage times won’t be released in advance, so be sure to pick up a copy of the programme when you enter the site.

What else is there to do at Camp Bestival?

Aside from all the music, there’s a hefty theatre contingent at this year’s festival. Much of it is aimed at children, with CBeebies Story Time, Mischief and Mystery in Moominvalley and Shaun the Sheep’s Vegetable Orchestra among them. There are also a fair few meet-and-greet type activities, with Wallace and Gromit and the Gruffalo in attendance.

Elsewhere, there are circuses, cabaret, science shows, theatre workshops, dressing-up tents, swing boats, face-painting and lots more.

Omid Djalili, Boothby Graffoe and Andre Vincent will perform comedy sets, while there will be restorative yoga sessions running all throughout the weekend.
