We know the drill – you see the announcement, get all excited by the thought of nabbing tickets for a massive arena date featuring your favourite globe-trotting band, and then you forget to book because it seems so far away. Alas, November comes around and they’ve sold out 30-something dates and you’re left listening to the online stream at home.

With tickets for one of the tours of the year going on sale this Friday (The Killers at the O2 Arena) we thought we’d take a look at some of the shows coming to London in the coming months with tickets still available…

Bon Iver @ Wembley Arena on November 8

Indie/folk singer-songwriter Justin Vernon has enjoyed a monumental rise since the release of his first full-length album, For Emma, Forever Ago, in 2008.

Following it up with a critically-acclaimed self-titled release in 2011, and adding a raft of layers and musicians to his live show, Bon Iver’s arrival in the UK has been one of the most hotly-anticipated dates on the 2012 gig calendar. Tickets sold quickly, but yes, there are still a few up for grabs.

The Killers @ O2 Arena on November 16 and 17

Debut album Hot Fuss burst onto the indie scene like a freight train, announcing the arrival of one of music’s best-loved anthemic pop bands.

Spawned from the sparse cultural plains of Las Vegas, Nevada, Brendan Flowers and co combine gritty, up-front song writing with big sing-a-long choruses and arena-smashing riffs.

Tickets go on sale Friday September 7 at 9am. Expect Freddie Mercury-style showmanship and a sore throat the next day.

The Vaccines @ Alexandra Palace on November 17

In 2012 uncomplicated guitar pop doesn’t come much straighter than this.

Leading the current chart resurgence of guitar led pop music with an edgy nostalgic vibe, The Vaccines combine teen angst and solid musicianship. New album Come of Age was released earlier this week – cue a raft of word-perfect jumpy sing-a-longs and some indulgent, but ultimately tongue-in-cheek on stage grandstanding.

The Black Keys @ O2 Arena on December 12 and 13

It’s been a long time coming for this dynamic blues/rock duo from Ohio, but they’ve finally got the international plaudits they so desperately deserve.

Dan Auerbach’s dirty guitar licks and painfully cool rasp marry perfectly with the driving drums of Patrick Carney.

El Camino was one of the standout albums of 2011, and while The Keys have since added a few session musicians to their touring band, the out and out rock of the two key members still shines through in their raucously raw live shows.

While a second date has already been added, this WILL sell out. Support from The Maccabees.

Madness @ O2 Arena on December 14

Veteran kings of ska know a thing or two about putting on a live show. Festival and chart favourites for over three decades, Suggs’s clan of musical misfits have built a loyal following and once managed to get three blocks of flats evacuated due to the dangerous vibrations caused by dancing at a jubilant outdoor concert in Finsbury Park.
