Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 is back in 2020 with a full remaster

Tony Hawk himself was texting people about the game

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2 games are making a return to the world this September with a full remaster.

After a lot of teasing and some leaks from Tony Hawk himself, Activision officially announced Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 Remastered, combining both versions of the skating games in one package.

This double whammy will be handled by Activision and Vicarious Visions, who were responsible for bringing us the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy in 2017 and Crash Team Racing remasters last year.

Similar to those games, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater will be getting a nice modern lick of paint to overhaul its outdated graphics and some brand new additions to the gameplay.

Pro Skater will now support online multiplayer as well as support for the 'Create-A-Park feature, both of which will have new goals and challenges added to them.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 will feature the full original roster of pro skaters, including Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, Bucky Lasek, Elissa Steamer, Kareem Campbell, Andrew Reynolds, Bob Burnquist, and of course, Tony Hawk.

This remaster will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as being an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC when it arrives on September 4 this year.

Before the game was officially revealed, Tony Hawk was seemingly texting people about the upcoming remaster news.

“Hey I have a surprise and I wanted to tell you first,” Tony Hawk told people via text.

“We are bringing back Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2! Original maps, original skaters and songs from the original soundtrack, plus new features! The game looks awesome and will be officially announced soon.”

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was originally developed by Neversoft, which handled development duties for a planned seven games.

However, the most recent game, Pro Skater 5 was a bit of a disaster, with Mashable calling it "broken and poorly assembled."

Considering how terrible the finished product of Pro Skater 5 was, we can only hope that this remaster is a fresh start for the ailing franchise.
