GTA 5 is being removed from Xbox Game Pass just six months after it was added to the service.
The popular game is currently listed in the “leaving soon” section, along with several other titles.
Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service operated by Microsoft that offers more than 300 games for a monthly fee. Titles are typically added and removed every month, including major releases and exclusives that you can’t play anywhere else.
Once a game is taken off the service, you have no choice but to buy it to continue playing.
When is GTA 5 leaving Xbox Game Pass?
So, how long do you have left to play GTA 5? Xbox has revealed that the game will be pulled from Game Pass on January 5.
Currently, both the Xbox One and Xbox Series versions of the game are listed in the “leaving soon” section. If you want to keep playing after that date, you’ll have to purchase it for £17.49.
Other games reportedly going away on January 15 include Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable, Moto GP 22, and Garden Story.
Will GTA 5 return to Game Pass?
We wouldn’t be surprised if GTA 5 publisher Take-Two Interactive decided to bring the game back to Game Pass.
After all, the subscription service can easily boost a game’s player base by opening it up to a host of users who don’t own it.
That seems like a no-brainer in the lead0up to the release of GTA 6, the highly anticipated new installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, which is due in 2025.
Is GTA 5 on PlayStation Plus?
If you also own a PS5, the good news is you can get GTA 5 on PS Plus.
Sony’s game subscription service added the crime epic in December. Still, there’s no guarantee it won’t be removed from PS Plus at a later date.
