Crysis Remastered is in the works and it's coming to Nintendo Switch

A leaked trailer and the return of the Crysis Twitter account ... it appears a remaster is in the works

The first-person sci-fi shooter game Crysis is getting a remaster, and it's coming to PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch.

There are reports that Crysis Remastered has officially been announced in a teaser trailer by the game's developers Crytek.

Earlier today, a Twitter user @RobotBrush found the cookie policy page of a new Crysis website, which granted access to an announcement of the new game.

If the new teaser trailer is legitimate too, it confirms that a return to the open-world sci-fi game is actually happening, but we don't yet know when it will be released.

You can watch the trailer above, although it doesn't show anything other than a quick glimpse at the jungle setting. Furthermore, at the time of writing this, the teaser hasn't been shared by any official Crytek accounts but it is popping up all over Twitter and YouTube.

According to information found on the leaked website, Crysis Remastered will have "new graphic features" and even ray-tracing in this remaster.

Here is what Twitter user @RobotBrush discovered:

Crysis first launched in November 2007 and at that moment, it was miles ahead of the times in terms of its visual fidelity and tech under the hood.

Due to the graphics and performance of the game, you might remember that the PC version gave birth to the classic “but can it run Crysis?” meme which has endured to this day.

The first title spawned many sequels, but neither of them really had the same impact as the first one and the series eventually petered out.

This remaster was initially teased as what was thought to be a joke. Throughout this month, the official Crysis Twitter account became active again after years of silence and people were expecting something new from the game's developers.

Just how long has it been since Crysis official Twitter account was active? Well, the 'About' section is talking about how Crysis 3 is available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PlayStation 4 came out in 2013, FYI.

However, the cryptic 'Receiving Data' message now makes a lot of sense now that we know a remaster is coming.

But... can the Nintendo Switch run Crysis?
