The Longest Yard

The game's the thing in this remake of the Robert Aldrich prison comedy, with Burt Reynolds (star of the 1974 original) now playing mentor to a drunk-driving, has-been NFL quarterback (Adam Sandler), who has been strong-armed into training a bunch of cons for a match against the guards.

There's a disturbing murder halfway through, but mostly all we're asked to do is laugh as the multi-racial underdogs take on the screws. Those able to ignore the relentless homophobia will have a riot.
