It first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2023, before being released in Spain on May 26, 2023.

Fans in the UK, however, have been patiently waiting to see when they would be able to catch Almodovar’s second-ever English film on the big screen.

They have finally been given a date, but there’s a catch: the film will only be in cinemas for one day.

Here is a comprehensive look at what the movie is about and when you can see it in the cinemas.

What is Strange Way of Life about?

Strange Way of Life can be briefly summarised as a cowboy drama movie that features two homosexual characters.

Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke portray reunited former lovers who see each other again after 25 years.

Talking about the movie he has written and directed to The Times, Almodovar shared that the movie explores intimacy through conversation and soulful gazes.

He explained: “It’s more subtle but it’s absolutely erotic.”

Another thing that makes the short film very special is the fact that it is the first offering from Saint Laurent Productions, a subsidiary of the luxury fashion goods brand Yves Saint Laurent.

When is Strange Way of Life out in cinemas in the UK?

Strange Way of Life will hit cinemas in the UK for one day only.

So, today (Monday, September 25, 2023) is the only time fans can catch the short film on the big screen in the country.

The British Film Institute in Southbank, the Barbican, Curzon, Everyman, Picturehouse cinemas, and Vue are among the movie theatres that are hosting viewings this evening.

A number of viewings appear to be sold out so check online for tickets before heading to the cinema.
