Sons of Cuba holds your attention

Award-winning: Sons of Cuba
10 April 2012

Cuba has won 32 boxing medals at the last seven Olympic Games and this award-winning documentary from British director and producer Andrew Lang elicits reasons why.

Every year, 25 boys aged between nine and 11, often from very poor homes, are selected for the Havana Boxing Academy.

The "standard bearers of the Revolution" are woken at 4am to begin training. The young boxers speak eloquently for themselves, while their parents and trainers are even more anxious for them to succeed than they are. Real-life drama that holds the attention from start to finish.
