Nomad Cinema

Various venues, Aug 13-Sep 27

What could be more unsettling than watching The Dark Knight among the crosses, colonnades and catacombs of Brompton Cemetery? Or how about sipping a martini at a casino table accompanied by Daniel Craig doing the same on screen in Casino Royale? The Nomad Cinema expertly matches its venues to its films so you'll feel like you're living the dream (or nightmare).

We Love The 90s Film Fest

Portobello Pop Up, until Sat Aug 3

Go back to the Nineties by rewatching Muriel's Wedding, Goodfellas or Friday at this makeshift cinema under The Westway. Portobello Road's Caribbean burger venue Boom Burger will be serving up juicy patties with scotch bonnet mayo and plantain chips. Even the tickets are sold at Nineties prices: £5 per person including seating and blankets.

Hot Tub Cinema

Former Shoreditch Underground Station, from Aug 14

Hot Tub Cinema's August programme also has a Nineties theme, with screenings of American Pie, Clueless, Austin Powers and other end-of-the-century favourites. Its auditorium is a disused train platform and the audience sit in bubbling hot tubs - a truly unique cinemagoing experience.

Under the Ground

Old Street Station, Aug 6-10

A concrete nook in the depths of Old Street Station is being turned into a cinema, with comfy seats and complimentary snack bags for the 40 spectators this boutique subterranean screening room holds. Films including Trainspotting, Casablanca, Fight Club and The Italian Job will be shown twice a night, at 7pm and 9.30pm.

Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder

British Museum, Aug 28-30

Watch sci-fi classics like The Day the Earth Caught Fire, Val Guest's incisive look at newspaper journalism and nuclear testing, and The Man Who Fell to Earth, starring David Bowie as an alien, and the mighty Flash Gordon in the magnificent grounds of the British Museum.
