Princess Mononoke

Alexander Walker10 April 2012

Said to be the most successful film ever at the Japanese box-office.

Hayao Miyazaki's beautiful and inventive animated fairytale is about a young warrior, cursed by a demon, who searches for a cure in wild woods where animal gods try to hold off human invaders.

The gods' champion is the princess of the title, and the story becomes an allegory about technology's impact on nature in today's Japan.
