Envy, Cert 12A, 99mins
Nick, played by comedian Jack Black, invents a spray that makes dog poop disappear. He gets rich and so his neighbour and best friend, Tim (Ben Stiller), grows bitter. Nick is merry, loving and generous but Tim is infuriated by their different circumstances, and goes out of control when he loses his job.
He ends up in the local bar, where he meets an oddball drifter (Christopher Walken) who recommends sabotage. This otherwise trying film is saved by Walken's combination of wit and disintegration: the serious actor plays a funny man on self-destruct better than funny-man Stiller ever could.
