May the best man not win

Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney turn on the romance

Debra Messing, of Will and Grace fame, translates into a passable film star.

She plays Kat, who lives in New York and requires a handsome and jealousy-inducing date to accompany her to England where her spoiled half-sister is getting married - and Kat's ex-lover is best man.

She finds a professional escort (Dermot Mulroney) and, of course, they fall in love for real.

British director Clare Kilner directs the romantic comedy with professional fluency but the end result looks like My Best Friend's Wedding crossed with Four Weddings and a Funeral.

We've seen it all before - and much better done in some cases.
