Who said silent films had to be silent? Film and classical music combine together for a rare treat at the Royal Festival Hall.

The screening of King Vidor’s 1925 silent film The Big Parade will be accompanied with music performed by the LPO.

The film, which is set in World War One, rocketed actor John Gilbert to international stardom.

Carl Davis’ score, performed live on stage by London Philharmonic Orchestra, will evoke the the moods and emotions of battle with popular songs from the time.

What a great way to spend a chilled Friday night - make a big night of The Big Parade.

Friday 8 November, 7.30pm, Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Road, London, SE1, tickets £24.00 £18.00 £14.00 £6.00, There is one 20-minute interval. Film ends at approximately 10.20pm.

Pre-concert Event: A discussion between Leatrice Glbert Fountain, daughter of John Gilbert, and film expert David Robinson. Admission free.
