Tim Walker, the revered fashion photographer whose works have graced the pages of Vogue and Vanity Fair, is bringing his otherworldly, Gothic fairy tale-inspired images to a new exhibition at Somerset House.

Flamboyant, humorous and surrealist, Walker's instantly-recognisable portraits have included top names in fashion and contemporary culture such as Vivenne Westwood, Tilda Swinton and Helena Bonham-Carter.

In this exhibition, which is supported by Mulberry, the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen is depicted with a smoking skull, Agyness Deyn is captured in the sand dunes of Namibia and model Stella Tennant stands in a pink cloud and a sea of rhododendrons.

In Walker's colourful world, fashion and fantasy collide: Spitfires crash in drawing rooms; UFOs fly across the Devonshire countryside; and powder-blue horses jump into country houses.

To pay homage to the film set-level of technicality each of his photographs requires, there will also be behind-the-scenes installations and props on show alongside the images.

As well as workshops with set designers, a talk with Tim Walker himself and a series of films which inspired his work, there will be a beautiful coffee table book of his iconic portraits available to buy.

Tim Walker: Story Teller at Somerset House runs from October 18 to January 27 2013. Admission is FREE. The accompanying book, Tim Walker: Story Teller is £45, Thames & Hudson),
