A test launch of the UK’s Trident nuclear missile has ended in failure for the second time in a row.

The Ministry of Defence said it was due to an “anomaly” but concerns have been raised about the effectiveness of Britain’s nuclear deterrent.

Last month’s test launch was the first in eight years after an earlier attempt in 2016, which also failed.

We hear from one of the University of East London scientists behind a heart disease breakthrough.

The researchers have created a new “heart” in a dish using stem cells and it could help lead to treatments for cardiovascular heart disease.

Dr Prashant Ruchaya, senior lecturer in physiology at University of East London’s School of Health, explains how they used technology to grow stem cells and separate them into heart tissue, so they can function like a miniature human heart.

Nasa is looking for US volunteers for a paid one-year ‘mission to Mars’ simulation.

This would be the second of the space agency’s planned ground missions called ‘the Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog’, and is scheduled to start in the spring of 2025.
