London’s jobs market is on the up according to the latest Reed Index, though other bits of the country are faring even better.

The closely watched survey shows the index for London was up 2.4% in October.

That compares with growth of 8.6% in North-west England, 9.9% in the East Midlands are 6.9% in East Anglia.

The figures come one day after government figures showed the unemployment rate fell to its lowest level for 11 years. Both sets of numbers show the jobs market faring well since Brexit.

James Reed, chairman of Reed, said: “Our figures show that the job market remains buoyant nearly six months after the UK voted to leave the EU.

"These findings come on top of great news about Google going ahead with its £1 billion office in King’s Cross and Nissan confirming it will build the Qashqai and X-Trail in Sunderland.

“Positive decisions like this… show that there is real confidence in post-Brexit Britain regardless of business leaders’ individual views on the referendum result.”
