Northern Foods bid ultimatum

Foods tycoon Ranjit Boparan today got a "put up or shut up" ultimatum from the Takeover Panel in his pursuit of Northern Foods.
The poultry supplier and owner of Harry Ramsden's was told to make a firm offer for the maker of Fox's Biscuits or walk away.
Northern, which has asked shareholders to back a bid by Greencore, said it welcomed the move. Boparan said he might disrupt this deal last month but has not made a formal offer.
