John Lewis click and collect comes to more Shell petrol stations
Department store group John Lewis will have click and collect points at up to 80 additional Shell forecourts this summer, while hundreds of EV charging points are coming to Waitrose car parks.
John Lewis Partnership’s supermarket business Waitrose gave the update as it said it is expanding a partnership with Shell.
The new charging points are expected to launch at the first Waitrose branch early next year.
The pair said this will represent Shell Recharge’s first move into “destination charging”, “whereby customers charge their vehicle while it is parked at a location they are primarily visiting for another activity such as shopping”.
On top of that the number of Shell forecourt shops which sell Waitrose products will rise to 125 from 57 over the same period.
John Lewis click and collect services are currently available from around 30 Shell forecourts, but up to 80 more locations are set to be added this summer.
Waitrose executive director, James Bailey, said: “This is an important partnership for Waitrose and means we can offer even greater convenience to more of our customers.”
Employee-owned John Lewis Partnership announced plans earlier this year to close some John Lewis branches, and is trialling having John Lewis areas in a handful of Waitrose sites.
High street retailers continue to try and come up with ideas for boosting footfall as online competition grows, while also offering customers plenty of choice digital shopping.
