Intercontinental Hotels shares lifted by Stateside rally

Intercontinental Hotels Group shares got a nudge in the right direction today when it reported revenues in America — 70% of its business — are sharply up.

Revenue per room, a key industry measure of success, is up 7.9% in the third quarter at those hotels in the relaunch of the Holiday Inn brand.

The return of the business traveller has also helped. Overall revenues across America are up 6.7%. IHG's shares gained 14p to 1227p.
