Call to reduce annual reports

Company annual reports should be slashed to just a dozen pages, the Government was told by a leading City group today.

The Association of Investment Companies, which represents investment trusts, said companies should print and send out a short strategic report giving an overview of the year and the financial results.

The rest of the accounts would then be made available only online. This could bring the average FTSE 350 report and accounts down from its current 135 pages.
