Savile Row tailor chief executive departs

John Durnin, the chief executive of Gieves & Hawkes, the Savile Row tailor with a Royal Warrant, has left the company today

Durnin was drafted in 18 months ago to turn the loss making business around. The group, which has 11 UK stores and four concessions including its flagship 1 Savile Row store, has been expanding in the Far East. Durnin was using his experience of working at Alfred Dunhill to improve the group.

According to accounts filed at Companies House, Gieves & Hawkes made a £2.4m loss in the year to December 2010, with turnover down to £15.6m, from £16.6m the previous year.
