Property veteran Gerald Ronson’s Heron International has put a proposed 43-storey hotel in the heart of the Square Mile up for sale after interest from potential buyers in the £500 million project.

Ronson’s Heron Plaza development near Liverpool Street station, which gained planning permission last year, will see a new Four Seasons hotel with 190 rooms, 120 apartments, conference facilities, gym and spa. The hotel, next to the recently completed Heron Tower, will border a new public square and is due to open in 2015.

Industry sources said the hotel development could fetch more than £100 million, as would-be buyers from Asia and the Far East look to sink funds into London property.

Heron deputy chief executive Jonathan Goldstein said: “Following significant interest from a number of third parties, we have a duty to our investors to consider all possible options, including a sale or partnership, to maximise returns from this prime project.”
