Hundreds of thousands of part-time workers are in jobs paying at least £40,000, dispelling the belief that senior posts are only available to full-timers, according to a report.
A study by Timewise, a jobsite dedicated to part-time jobs, showed that 650,000 people - one in 10 part-timers - were on a salary of £40,000 or more.
Research among 2,000 people found that many worked part-time because they had enough money to reduce their hours, or had to look after children.
Timewise founder Karen Mattison said: "Behind the doors of many British businesses are thousands of senior professionals, working at the top of their game, on a part-time basis, because they want to.
"People say part-time and senior can't be done, but thanks to employers who get the business benefits of hiring talented people on a part-time basis, there are now part-time finance directors, heads of communications, even part-time chief executives out there."
