Tony Bates, chief financial officer of collapsed Yellow Pages publisher hibu, was today named in the same role at mobile satellite firm Inmarsat.

Bates had been at hibu since 2010; he and the board came under fire from shareholders after they were left with nothing when it was put into administration last year. He previously worked at telecom firm Colt and record label EMI.

Dwell gets financial cushion from DFS

London-based upmarket furniture maker Dwell has teamed up with DFS to start selling its cushions and accessories through the sofa chain’s stores.

The deal will see DFS offer financial support to the company, which went bust last year leaving some customers thousands of pounds out of pocket. Dwell, founded in 2003 in Balham, was rescued from administration.

HSBC appoints fifth woman to board

HSBC is beefing up its board with the appointment of a former commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Kathleen Casey, as a non-executive director.

Casey, 47, is the fifth woman on the bank’s 18-strong board. HSBC paid a $1.9 billion fine to US regulators for money laundering two years ago and faces possible fines from Europe for Libor rigging. Casey will be paid £155,000.
