David Cameron kicked off the Farnborough International Airshow today by promising to spend £1.1 billion bolstering Britain’s defences against terrorists and cyber criminals.

The Prime Minister said £800 million will be invested to improve intelligence and surveillance and a further £300 million on existing programmes, including drones.

The Farnborough Airshow will see industry giants such as Boeing and Airbus vie for orders, with some big deals expected to be announced over the next few days.

Airbus has already announced the launch of two new aircraft, the A330-800 and A330-900.
