Amazon’s TV unit on move

Online retailing behemoth Amazon pressed ahead with expansion plans for its fledgling interactive television business today in another boost for London’s burgeoning “Tech City” technology hub.

Amazon is moving its Pushbutton business, which it bought last year, from its current home to far larger offices as the company joins the throng of fast-growing tech firms gravitating towards Clerkenwell and Old Street’s “Silicon Roundabout”.

Pushbutton, founded in 2002, specialises in interactive television and designs technology which allows customers to watch television across a number of platforms such as tablets and games consoles.

Hatton Real Estate and BNP Paribas acted for Amazon. One source close to the deal said: “These guys were in a 2,000 sq ft office and now they’re taking up nearly 50,000 sq ft. This is what the tech world is also about — absolutely incredible growth.”
