EAT

Big Easy - book online
332 - 334 Kings Road, SW3 5UR
Big Easy is an American crab shack/Tex-Mex restaurant. This is the place to go for a burger with all the trimmings. There is live music every night and the atmosphere is fun and lively with the easy going, Southern attitude that the restaurant is based on.

Buona Sera (The Jam)
289A King's Road, SW3 5EW
Buona Sera is a chain of restaurants that offer simple yet traditional Italian fare in a vibrant, lively atmosphere. This restaurant is situated in the centre of Chelsea and has raised cubicles reached by ladders - great fun for all the family.

Gordon Ramsay - book online
68 - 69 Royal Hospital Road, SW3 4HP
Getting into Restaurant Gordon Ramsay can be tough, but it is well worth the effort. Recently refurbished in late 2006, his Royal Hospital Road flagship is one of only three eating places in the UK to brandish the full complement of Michelin stars.

Tom's Kitchen - book online
27 Cale Street, SW3 3QP
Tom Aikens has opened his Kitchen just a stone's throw away from his Michelin-starred restaurant. Tom's Kitchen is more informal but with equally delicious food - and prices that won't break the bank.

Eight over Eight - book online
392 Kings Road, SW3 5UZ
With dark wood floors, light walls, oriental lampshades and eastern-influenced window coverings, Eight over Eight offer an eclectic selection of 'Pan Asian' cuisine. It's not cheap but the food is presented very elegantly and there is something on the menu to whet any appetite.

DRINK

Babushka
316-318 Kings Road
A Russian-inspired vodka chain with a deserved following. Each offshoot has its own look and feel. The Kings Road branch boasts a very impressive cocktail list and flavoured vodkas are a speciality.

Bluebird
350 Kings Rd, SW3 5UU
This large and swanky Conran outfit - comprising a foodstore, restaurant, café and bar - enjoys 'landmark' status, down Chelsea way. The bar occupies quite a large part of the impressively airy room on the first floor, which it shares with a grill restaurant.

Cactus Blue
86 Fulham Rd, SW3
Even after a few years, the modernistic design of this Chelsea bar/restaurant still seems quite impressive (especially in this fairly traditional part of town). The place is owned by the Maxwell's burgers people, and the 'Pacific Rim' food on offer is - how to put it? - not really the principal attraction.

Townhouse
31 Beauchamp Place, SW3 1NU
This cocktail emporium is firmly aimed at the cooler end of the Knightsbridge lounge lizard market. They certainly spent plenty of money on the modernistic décor, and - as you'd hope for a sibling to Soho's Lab - there is an impressive range of libations on offer.

Cadogan Arms
298 King's Road, SW3 5UG
Cadogan Arms is a pub that sells a variety of drinks including real ale as well as serving a variety of traditional pub food. In addition to this, they have a games room, pool tables, fruit and quiz machines. There is also a big screen television showing Sky TV.

EXPLORE

Natural History Museum
Cromwell Road, London SW7 5BD
There are hundreds of exhibits at the Natural History Museum ranging in size from dinosaurs to creepy crawlies. Admission is free to this museum where the many interactive features make it a favourite with children. Guided tours run throughout the building, or you are free to wander on your own

Harrods
87-135 Brompton Road, SW1X 7XL
Established in 1834 as a wholesale grocery in London's East End, today Harrods is the world's most famous department store. It is now located in the heart of Knightsbridge and owned by colourful Egyptian Mohammed al-Fayed. The store has over one million square feet of selling space and over 330 departments.

Stamford Bridge
Fulham Road, SW6 1HS
Home to Chelsea Football Club, the 2004/5 and 2005/6 Premiership champions, Stamford Bridge holds over 40,000 people. Chelsea had been perennial underachievers until Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bought the club and pumped seemingly endless sums of money into building a new team. Tours of the impressive stadium can be booked via the club's website: www.chelseafc.com

Serpentine Gallery
Kensington Gardens, W2 3XA
Specialising in modern and contemporary art, the Serpentine Gallery is a favourite destination for London's culture vultures. Its most famous work is a permanent installation by artist and poet Ian Hamilton Findlay, dedicated to Princess Diana the gallery's former patron. With free admission, the gallery attracts about 750,000 visitors a year.

Sloane Square
Lying at the east end of the trendy King's Road, Sloane Square is on the boundaries of the fashionable districts of Chelsea and Belgravia. Mentioned in the 1988 Morrissey song, Hairdresser on Fire, the square is home to the Peter Jones department store and Royal Court Theatre.
